Music videos have been around for quite some time, and they have evolved in many ways since their earliest inceptions. Changes and advancements in technology, as well as in the ways that we access our entertainment and music, have forced music videos to change in even more ways. Here is a brief history of music videos, along with a look toward the future and what we may be able to expect.

The first music videos weren’t the short little clips that we now know, capturing one song. Instead, they were entire promotional films. Images of The Beatles and all of their feature length movies, as well as the dozens of movies that Elvis Presley appeared in, all come to mind. These movies had many songs in them, and had plots and acting as well.

There was no platform for short music clips anywhere, however there was an outlet for movies and so this was the channel that was used. Then live performances on shows such as the Ed Sullivan show became popularized. While there was no production to these, because these were clips with only one song performed they were much more similar to the music videos of today than the promotional films were.

Then along came MTV, and the true evolution of the music video began. Now musicians and record companies had a platform where they could showcase their latest efforts, in any artistic form that they wanted. Musical Instrument Industry From January To November 2009 Increased By 2.10%

National Bureau of Statistics published 1 November 2009, 317 musical instrument industry scale production enterprises completion of major economic indicators, gross industrial output of 15.903 billion yuan, down 0.57%, 896 million of new product output value, up 6.91%, to achieve industrial sales output value of 16.185 billion yuan, up 2.10%, export delivery value of 4.942 billion yuan, down 22.16%, sales rate of 100.16 percent.

    Monthly data show that in November 2009 industrial output value of 1.59 billion yuan, growth of 2.3%, 97.87 million yuan output value of new products, growth of 1.07%, industrial sales output value of 1.618 billion yuan, growth of 0.7%, export delivery value of 5.54 billion, growth of 6.33%.

    1 November 2009, various musical instrument products completion of major economic indicators, the instruments of industrial output value 1.103 billion yuan, up 14.91 percent, export delivery value of 410 million yuan, up 3.25%; Western musical instruments total industrial output value 9.085 billion yuan, down 2.25%, new product output value 651 million yuan, up 68.17 percent, export delivery value of 2.766 billion yuan, down 22.27%; electronic instruments total industrial output value 2.731 billion yuan, down 10.44%, the new product output value 2.18 billion yuan, down 50.65 percent, export delivery value of 1.285 billion yuan, down 30.42 percent, and other musical instruments and instrument parts industrial output value of 2.65 billion yuan, up 12.54 percent, export delivery value of 479 million yuan, down 12.06 %.  Read more...
