A recording studio in your own home is a very convenient thing to have, especially for a musical group or act of some sort. The days of having to pack up your gear and gather all of the band members together to go and “rent” professional recording studio time, space and services are fading fast.
The cost of using professional recording studio services can get very expensive. A Professional studio will usually command a booking that is scheduled months in advance, and also require a cash deposit for the studio time up front. This obviously has to done to pay for all of the unnecessary “Bells and Whistles”, aesthetics, advertising, general overhead and lots of profit.
For small time aspiring musicians, this expense can often be one of the determining factors of success. As with most businesses that charge money for services – you get what you pay for. Every minute in the studio and every “Take” will be accounted for and charged for accordingly. For small “Up and Coming” musical groups, acts, or bands, they must make the best of this time in the studio, to realize a decent “Return on Investment”. If studio time that is booked months in advance has to be cancelled at the last minute, due to uncontrollable circumstances, like somebody becoming Ill, or loses their voice, or is unable to perform for any number of reasons, rarely is the deposit money returned.
